Ultrasound Cavitation
What is Ultrasound Cavitation?
Ultrasonic cavitation is a non-invasive lipolysis technique, which uses low-frequency ultrasound to reduce the thickness of adipose tissue pads located in different locations of the body (abdomen, hips, buttocks, etc.). Through ultrasonic cavitation, it is possible to achieve a significant reduction in body circumferences with consequent improvement of the profile, without undergoing to a more invasive surgery. For this reason, it can be considered an innovative and effective method in reducing fat accumulation and related imperfections, such as water retention and effect and cellulite. Areas that can be treated include, Abdomen, Hips, Love Handles/Flanks, Inner and Outer, Thighs, Upper Arms/Bingo Wings, Buttocks
How does it work?
Ultrasound leads to the rupture of the membrane of fat cells by exploiting the physical principle of cavitation. When a sound passes through a liquid, pressure variations are formed inside it that lead to the formation of bubbles that subsequently implode. In ultrasonic cavitation, this happens in the interstitial fluid of adipocytes, which are fat storage cells. The ultrasound generated by the special machine leads to the formation of microbubbles in fat cells that when they implode, damage the cell membrane. The fat contained in the cell escape and enter the bloodstream, arrive at the liver and are metabolized like all other circulating fats, until they are eliminated by the kidneys.
What happens during the treatment?
The treatment is carried out with a FDA approved medical device equipped with a handpiece that is passed repeatedly on the area to be treated, in direct contact with the skin. The duration of each session is usually from 20 to 30 minutes. The number of sessions can be variable depending on the area to be treated, the state of hydration of the body, patient’s age and skin condition that will be evaluated through the physical examination of the aesthetic Practitioner. Clients can expect to experience a reduction of several cm in circumference after the first treatment following Cavitation. While you will see immediate results in the first session, it may be necessary to have between 4 and 12 sessions for optimum results. Clients who go through a series of treatments will see an improvement each time the treatment is performed.
The sessions are generally performed at intervals of about 72 hours. Once the desired results have been obtained, maintenance sessions can be recommended.
What do I need to do before the treatment?
Normally, Ultrasound cavitation does not require special preparations before its execution. However, it is very important that the patient drinks plenty of still water and hydrates abundantly in the two to three days preceding treatment. Hydration must be carried out in order to enrich the areas to be treated with interstitial fluids. In fact, the higher the liquid content, the more microbubbles will be produced by ultrasound and the more effective cavitation will be.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
Ultrasound Cavitation is not considered an invasive treatment, therefore, at the end of the session the client can resume normal activities immediately. However, he\she must be careful to drink plenty of water and, above all, to follow a balanced diet so as not to frustrate the results obtained. In any case, it should be noted that to obtain visible results, a single cavitation session is not enough. Generally, it is recommended to perform six to twelve sessions, but this varies greatly depending on the area to be treated, its extent and the patient's response to treatment.
What are the effects and the results of Ultrasound Cavitation?
At the end of the ultrasonic cavitation treatment, a visible and measurable effect is already evident in terms of reducing fat accumulation in the treated area. The treatment also produces beneficial effects with regard to the drainage of body fluids, the attenuation of cellulite and the reactivation of peripheral circulation. The maintenance of the effects of ultrasonic cavitation and the effectiveness of the results is also linked to other parameters. The results will be better and longer lasting if accompanied by correct eating habits, proper hydration of the body and a non-sedentary lifestyle.
How long is the treatment?
Each session is around 30/40 minutes. Treating multiple areas is not advisable as the body has to work hard to remove the excess fat that is now passing through the Lymphatic system to the liver. Follow the rule, of one area, one treatment every 72 hours and you will see rapid results. So if you purchased more than one session on multiple areas you will need to come back to have your second area treated.
Who is suitable for Ultrasound Cavitation treatments?
Unfortunately, treatment is not suitable for everyone. Please check that your BMI falls in the treatable range and should be no more than 30. Significant obesity is outside the treatment range for the contouring and styling effects of ultrasonic liposuction. Also, Despite the safety of use and the reduced side effects it can cause, some medical conditions and drugs will make some patients unsuitable to benefit from the treatment.
Cavitation is contraindicated in the following cases: In pregnancy and during breastfeeding; In women using the intrauterine IUD as a contraceptive method if cavitation is to be carried out in the abdominal area; In patients suffering from heart disease and/or vascular diseases or epilepsy; In patients with coagulation disorders; In diabetic patients; In patients with vestibular disorders; In patients with tympanic lesions and/or inflammations; In patients with peacemakers and/or metal prostheses; In patients suffering from chronic dyslipidemias; In patients with lipomas; In patients suffering from liver disease.
